GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Terrorism, Assam apprehended an individual in Hojai on the alleged charges of taking a bribe on October 15.
The accused official was identified to be Sewali Chakravorty, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Binakandi Block in Hojai District who was caught accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in her vehicle along National Highway (NH) at Niz Kathiatoli, Nagaon District.
The bribe was allegedly taken by the BDO to expedite payments related to completed projects under her jurisdiction.
