GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has announced an additional grant of ₹ 50,000 for each Raas Committee in Assam on Saturday, November 2. This additional funding comes with the previously allocated ₹ 25,000.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the announcement, stating, “The Raas Festival of Majuli is a vibrant celebration that truly embodies the spirit and cultural essence of Assam. In honor of this significant event, the Government of Assam is pleased to announce an additional grant of ₹ 50,000 for each Raas Committee. This amount is in addition to the previously announced Rs. 25,000, reflecting our commitment to supporting and enhancing this cherished festival that showcases Assam’s rich heritage and traditions.”
Celebrated annually, the Raas Festival in Majuli draws visitors and devotees from across India, showcasing elaborate performances that depict episodes from Lord Krishna’s life. Known for its theatrical displays and rich, traditional music, the festival has become an important marker of Assam’s cultural identity.
