GUWAHATI: To ensure proper nutrition for children and women and combat malnutrition in the state, the Assam cabinet on Wednesday approved an SoP for providing millet under Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP).
Interacting with the media after the weekly cabinet meeting, Minister of Public Health Engineering minister Jayanta Mallabaruah said, "The state cabinet today approved a notification of SoP for providing millet, rice, and other cereal-based ready-to-cook/ ready-to-eat food under SNP."

"This will tackle malnutrition among children from the age group 6 months to 6 years as well as pregnant women and lactating mothers," he added.
