Assam: Four Animals Electrocuted In Kaziranga National Park On The Same Day

 

GUWAHATI: Four animals were electrocuted in the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Monday, October 25. One camp elephant named Oiravat, one Swamp deer, and two wild boars died of electrocution at Burapahar Range under Haticamp at the KNP. 

The information was shared with G Plus by the KNP Director P Shivkumar. 

This comes on the same day when Bhomoraguri has been reopened for the current tourist season. Bhomoraguri is about 30 km from Kaziranga’s westernmost range Burapahar.

Meanwhile, another elephant died due to electrocution in Guwahati on Sunday. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rohini Saikia told G Plus that the elephant was found dead by villagers at Ahom Gaon near Gorchuk after being electrified by high-voltage power transmission lines.
