Assam: Five Persons Killed In Tragic Road Accident At Baihata Chariali

GUWAHATI: Five persons were killed in a tragic road accident that occurred in Baihata Chariali of Kamrup Rural (R) district in Assam on Friday night, September 10. 

This was confirmed to G Plus by Officer-in-charge (OC) Baihata Chariali Police Station, Maheshwar Sharma.

According to Police, two persons died on the spot when an ambulance and a passenger tempo collided head-on in the Bihdia area of Baihata Chariali.

The other three persons were rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where they were declared dead.

The deceased have been identified as Bimala Bodo age 45, Bileswari Brahma age 50, Tofan Bodo age 46, Bagibala Bodo age 50, and the tempo driver Uttam Rajbongshi age 34.

Meanwhile, six passengers have sustained injuries in the accident. One of them has been taken to Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) and the rest of the five passengers are receiving treatment at GMCH currently.

All the passengers in the tempo belonged to Simlibari village in Goreswar, Kamrup (R) district.
