Assam: Endangered Migratory Birds Rescued from Poachers Net

GUWAHATI: A team from Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary in the night of December 2 rescued several migratory birds from the poachers net.

According to reports, the officials seized some microphones playing bird sound along with microphones,loud speakers, nets left by the poachers in agriculture fields near Juria in Assam.

Meanwhile in the wee hours of December 3, the officials found around 16 number of purple moorhens. All items were seized and search is on to apprehend the poachers. 

Reportedly, these birds are home delivered to Nagaon town and other places for eating.

It is to be mentioned that in winter season of the year most of the wetlands in Assam are witnessed by exotic migratory birds from all over in searches of food.
