The deceased has been identified as Bipul Saikia from Bajia Gaon. He was reportedly injured during confrontations between BJP and Congress workers in Bhogamur on Thursday, 24 October.

He succumbed to his injuries on Friday, October 25.

State minister Jayanta Mallabaruah expressed his sorrow before the media, stating, “A few minutes ago, I received the news that one of the BJP members has succumbed to injuries. It is saddening.”

The violence erupted during a nomination rally for Tanzil Hussain, son of Congress MP Rakibul Hussain, which was intended to garner support for him in the upcoming bye-elections. The event descended into chaos as tensions flared between the two political groups.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the situation escalated when Rakibul Hussain stepped out of his vehicle to address the gathering. This prompted supporters from both Congress and BJP to surge towards the stage, resulting in shouting and pushing among the workers.
