Assam Dominates Haryana To Clinch National Football Championship

GUWAHATI: In a one-sided final of the Sub-Junior Boys' National Football Championship (NFC) Tier 2, host Assam thrashed Haryana 11-0 to claim the title on Friday, September 20, at Jorhat. The match showcased Assam’s dominance from start to finish, with Tanmoy Boruah stealing the spotlight with a remarkable double hat-trick.

Held at the Jorhat Stadium, the championship, which kicked off on September 7, concluded with Assam asserting their superiority early in the game. Tamash Daimary opened the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by a goal from captain Tanmoy Boruah in the 12th minute. Arup Karmakar added another in the 16th minute, and Tamash netted again soon after, converting a penalty in the 21st minute.

Assam’s relentless attack left Haryana unable to recover, as Tanmoy completed the first half with a third goal in the 25th minute, and Arup Karmakar closed the half at 7-0 in the 31st minute.

The second half saw no respite for Haryana, with Tanmoy continuing his goal-scoring spree, netting in the 54th, 59th, and 78th minutes, completing his double hat-trick. Substitute Nivir Protim Borgohain added another in the 62nd minute, cementing Assam’s emphatic victory.

The All India Football Association organised the event in collaboration with the Jorhat District Sports Association (JDSA), hosting matches at the Bapuji Stadium, Mariani, and Jorhat Stadium.
