In a tweet posted on August 22, DGP Singh emphasised that police should handle all such cases with absolute adherence to the law. He stressed that district police units, Thana Level Nagrik Committees, and the District Administration must regularly engage with stakeholders from all communities to foster and maintain communal harmony.

“It is crucial that there is no room for instant justice or actions beyond the law from any group. The field police units are mandated to uphold the rule of law under all circumstances. Failure to adhere to these directives will be viewed seriously and addressed accordingly,” DGP Singh stated.

He reiterated the Assam Police’s commitment to maintaining neutrality and ensuring lawful implementation in all matters.
