Assam COVID Update: Record 1.43 Lakh Tests Conducted in 24 Hours, State Tally at 68,999

GUWAHATI: Over 1.43 lakh samples have been examined for COVID-19 in a day in Assam, taking the cumulative tests conducted so far to a record high of 15,73,800.

"We have been continuously stepping up our #COVID testing. I am so proud to share that in the last 24 hours, team Assam carried out 143,109 tests. This takes the total test conducted in Assam to a record high of 15,73,800," informed state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma via social media update.

Out of the tests conducted on August 12, 4,593 COVID cases resulted positive. 

"4593 COVID cases detected out of 1,43,109 - maximum tests done in a single day - with positivity rate just 3.20%.Kamrup (M)- 632, Kamrup (R)- 460, Nagaon- 335, Dibrugarh- 265," tweeted Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The total COVID cases in Assam as on August 12 stands at 68,999. While 45,073 persons have recovered from the virus, 23,762 cases are currently active. The death toll in Assam has reached 161, with six COVID patients succumbing to their infections on August 12.
