Assam Cop Dies From Heat Stroke While On Election Duty In Bihar

GUWAHATI: Havildar Biman Phukon of the 19th Assam Police Battalion (APBn) succumbed to heat stroke while on election duty in Rohtas district, Bihar.

Phukon, who had been deployed as part of the security arrangements for the ongoing elections, passed away on Saturday, June 7, at a medical college in Sasaram. He had been receiving medical treatment in the hospital since suffering the heat stroke.

Phukon was attended by medical staff from his battalion throughout his stay. Despite their efforts, Phukon's condition deteriorated, leading to his unfortunate demise.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, G.P. Singh, expressed sorrow over the loss. In a statement, Singh said, "The entire Assam Police family mourns the sacrifice of our valiant colleague."

Phukon's body is being brought back to Assam.
