Assam: Chokighat Bridge Nears Completion

GUWAHATI: The Chokighat Bridge, a vital infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between the towns of Jamugurihat and Tezpur in Assam, is approaching its final stages of construction.

The bridge, once operational, is poised to significantly shorten the travel distance between these two towns, bringing about a substantial improvement in communication links in the Northern region of the state. This impending achievement stands as a realisation of the long-cherished aspirations of the local populace for enhanced connectivity.

Spanning the Jiabhorali River, the Chokighat Bridge boasts an impressive length of over 1.2 kilometres. With approximately 90 per cent of the construction work now accomplished, the project is on track to be unveiled for public use within the upcoming two months.

Notably, the completion of this endeavour will bring about a dramatic reduction in the distance travellers need to cover between Tezpur and Jamugurihat. The current distance of 52 kilometres will be drastically cut down to a mere 18 kilometres, paving the way for quicker and more efficient journeys between these two key towns.
