Assam Chief Minister Inaugurates New Secretariat In Dibrugarh

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially inaugurated the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Dibrugarh on Friday, September 6. This new facility aims to strengthen governance and promote regional development in Upper Assam.

The inauguration event also marked the signing of the first official order that included 16 key decisions and the transfer of 19 District Commissioners across various districts. The Secretariat, which features modern amenities across two floors, will serve as the venue for the CM to unfurl the national flag on Republic Day (January 26) each year. 



The Secretariat will oversee administrative functions for the districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Majuli, Jorhat, and Golaghat, covering approximately 7.9 million residents across 21,264 square kilometers. Its role includes improving state and central scheme administration, addressing public grievances, and enhancing regional development with a focus on local policymaking.

The first floor will host the Office of the Chief Minister, the Office of the Chief Minister's Principal Secretary, and other key offices including a conference room with video conferencing facilities and a special room for VVIPs/VIPs. The ground floor includes the Office of the Joint Secretary, the Office of the Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary, branch offices, a reception desk, a waiting room for visitors, and various support rooms. parking will be available for 40 public vehicles and 80 official vehicles, with separate access for VVIPs and the public.

The Secretariat will operate under the supervision of the Chief Minister’s Office at the Assam Secretariat, with no new posts created. Staffing will include a Joint Secretary, a Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary, a Stenographer (Grade 1), a Branch Officer, two Junior Assistants (Computer), and five Multi-tasking staff. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh will serve as Additional Secretary/Joint Secretary.

The Secretariat aims to enhance governance, improve administrative efficiency, and accelerate regional development while facilitating coordination with neighboring states Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

The inauguration was attended by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister Pijush Hazarika, among other dignitaries.
