Established in 1909, the mosque in Puranigudam is one of the oldest in Assam and is seen as a symbol of religious harmony.

It was decided to shift the entire structure without damaging it. For this, the two-storeyed minaret will be moved 70 feet away from its original place.

The work to shift the minaret is being undertaken by a Haryana-based engineering firm.
