Assam: Cattle Smuggling Racket Busted, Four Apprehended

 

GUWAHATI: A significant development unfolded on Tuesday as authorities seized two trucks transporting cattle heads in the Buraighat area in the Behali constituency of Assam. 

The Behali Police took swift action upon receiving information about the cattle transportation and established a checkpoint during the late hours of the night.

Consequently, the police successfully apprehended two trucks that were carrying cattle heads, as per reports.

A total of 50 cattle heads were rescued from the two trucks which also led to the arrest of four individuals, including the drivers and assistants of the trucks.

Initially, those detained attempted to mislead the police by providing false information concerning the origin and destination of the cattle. However, faced with mounting pressure, they eventually divulged the truth. According to official reports, the cattle were being transported from Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, with the intention of reaching West Bengal. This disclosure was made by the officer-in-charge at the Behali police station.

The apprehended individuals are being interrogated as further details are awaited.
