Assam Cabinet Restructures & Renames Departments To Tackle Climate Change

 

GUWAHATI: To enhance coordination in combating climate change, the Assam Cabinet has approved key departmental restructurings on Thursday, March 27. The decision aims to streamline environmental governance by designating a single nodal department for climate-related initiatives.

Key Approvals:

-The Science, Technology, and Climate Change Department has been renamed as the "Science and Technology Department", removing its climate change mandate.

-The Environment and Forest Department has been rebranded as the "Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Department", officially making it the Nodal Department for all climate change-related activities.

The restructuring is expected to improve policy implementation, streamline decision-making, and enhance Assam's response to climate change challenges. This move has been undertaken to strengthen environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives.
