GUWAHATI: During its weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the Assam cabinet took several key decisions.
One of the major decisions was setting up a Joint Venture Company (JVC) with OIL for City Gas Distribution (CGD) project.
"A JVC with OIL would be set up for City Gas Distribution (CGD) project and equity investment by Assam Gas Company Ltd with a shareholding of 51%," Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed.
"CGD networks will boost the availability of natural gas as fuel and spur economic activity in allotted districts- Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Darrang, Udalguri and Sonitpur," the CM added.
He further informed that the project would also help create new infrastructure in the allotted geographical areas and generate around 150 direct and 1500 indirect employment opportunities.
