GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced that one Accredited Driver Training Centre (ADTC) with Automated Driving Testing Tracks (ADTT) facility will be set up in every district of the state in order to reduce the scope of human intervention in the process of issuance of Driving Licenses and to ensure scientific training and testing of driving skills.

In a significant development, the requirement for drivers to fulfill a mandatory test of competence to get a driving licence in order to drive a vehicle will be exempted on completion of a full-time training course at those ADTCs by the driving license aspirants, the State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog announced in her budget speech today.

The Minister further announced that the ADTCs, with Automated Driving Testing Tracks (ADTT), will be set up in all districts of the State in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and will have real time monitoring and evaluation facility of driving skills with video analytics.

Additionally, a total of 126 Driving Training Schools will be set up in the State so that each LAC has one such school and they will be affiliated to the ADTCs, which will all be empowered to issue driving licenses on behalf of the State Government.

Furthermore, a separate Regulatory Authority will be set up for issuing licenses to the ADTCs, which will also have power to take action against the defaulting ADTCs on violation of the conditions or to revoke the license and initiate penal action if required.
