Assam Boy Sets Record for Painting Using His Mouth

GUWAHATI: A boy named Sourav Mandal, originally hailing from Chirang, Assam has set a record as an extraordinary artist by making portraits of two famous personalities of India, Dr Bhupen Hazarika and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, in 7 minutes 55 seconds upside down using brush with mouth. The record has been confirmed by the India Book of Records.

"I left art after passing my higher secondary examinations. For my further studies, I went to Tripura. It was during the time of lockdown that I thought of giving painting another attempt. I made some sketches and my friends appreciated them. Gradually, when I came home after lockdown I thought of trying something unique. One fine day, while scrolling down on YouTube, I saw a physically disabled artist painting with his mouth and that made a huge impact on my mind. I decided to give it a try," said Sourabh Mandal to G Plus.

"My family and friends are my biggest support," he further added.

Sourabh applied for the India Book of Records on 14th November last. It was confirmed on 26th November and he received the medal and certificate on 24th December.

He was also honoured and invited by the World Records University, the United Kingdom to undergo a doctorate programme and write a thesis about his art form.
