GUWAHATI: A boat capsized in the Dibang River in Sadiya today morning around 8:30 AM.
The incident took place while 32 passengers were onboard, journeying from Amarpur to Chapakhowa. Despite the harrowing situation, the valiant efforts of rescuers played a pivotal role in ensuring the passengers' safety.
Urban Affairs and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal expressed deep sorrow upon learning about the incident and commended the quick response of the rescuers, which undoubtedly averted a potentially more tragic outcome.
Taking to Twitter, Singhal wrote, “Profoundly saddened by the news of the devastating boat capsize in Sadia Dibang River. Thanks to the grace of Maa Kamakhya, and the swift & courageous efforts of rescuers, which ensured the safety of the 32 passengers aboard the boat who were travelling from Amarpur to Chapakhowa. My thoughts are with the passengers & their families who have undergone this distressing ordeal, and I pray for their safety & wellbeing.”
