Assam: Bike-Borne Assailants Hack Man to Death in Dibrugarh

GUWAHATI: A citizen was shot dead by miscreants at Graham Bazar near Idgah Maidan in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

According to reports, miscreants first attacked a man identified as Om Prakash Agarwalla with a sharp weapon and open fired from close range leaving him dead.

Although the victim was rushed to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The incident took place about 100 metres away from his house located in Beria Building at Graham Bazar at around 5.12 PM on November 18.

“From preliminary investigation, we have found that he was attacked by sharp weapon. A cartridge has been found at 15 metres away from his body,” said Dibrugarh superintendent of police Gautam Borah.

The body has been taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital for post mortem following which investigation will start.

In the meanwhile, several commercial establishments have been shut down to offer condolence to the deceased.
