The BDYF insists that the hoardings in Assamese violated the 1961 language pact that makes Bengali the official language in Cachar and Barak Valley.
A huge social media uproar has been created following the matter. The BDYF has softened its stand and told local reporters that "the protest is not against Assamese or any other language but against its imposition."
