Assam: Around 20,000 People Form Human Chain For Poshan Abhiyaan

GUWAHATI: Under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin, the Poshan Abhiyaan has marked September month as Poshan Maah for holistic nourishment.

Under this drive, the Morigaon district administration along with the Social Welfare Department organised various events like quiz competition, street drama, rally and poster competition in Morigaon on September 15.

It is to be mentioned that the district administration organized a human chain programme to generate awareness on Poshan Maah, Swachhata Hi Seva, Plastic Waste Management and Clean drinking water among the masses wherein around 20,000 people joined holding posters and banners along the road from Morigaon to Jagiroad.

The human chain was officially flagged off by the MLA as well as the chairman of Fish-Fed, Ramakanta Deuri at Morigaon police point.

POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022. The objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan to reduce stunting in identified Districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of key Anganwadi Services and improving the quality of Anganwadi Services delivery. Its aim to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children.
