Assam Approves Electronics And Pharmaceuticals Policies To Boost Growth

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet, in its meeting on Tuesday, March 4, approved a series of strategic policies and initiatives aimed at driving economic growth, creating new business opportunities, and supporting rural entrepreneurship.

Among the decisions, the Cabinet gave its approval to the Assam Electronics System Design & Manufacturing Policy, 2025, and the Assam Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Policy, 2025. 

In another decision, the Cabinet sanctioned the inclusion of Engineered Bamboo Composite Materials in the Schedule of Rates (SOR) for Public Works Department (PWD) projects. Additionally, the PWD has been instructed to use at least 5% bamboo-based materials in the construction of all new public buildings.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the establishment of a non-profit Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), named PAN-IIT ALUMNI REACH FOR ASSAM (PARAS) FOUNDATION. The SPV will focus on developing high-quality vocational education and skill development programs. The project, which will be established at a cost of ₹790 crore, will receive 10% state funding.
