Assam Appoints Three Additional Advocates General in the Gauhati HC

GUWAHATI: The government of Assam has appointed three new Additional Advocates General in the Gauhati High Court (HC)  on May 30. They are Parangam Goswami, Devashish Baruah, and Kumud Konwar. 

With their appointments, the newly formed government of Assam has a total of five Additional Advocates General in office.

Parangam Goswami previously served as the Assistant Senior Advocate of the Gauhati HC and was an advocate for forest, excise, and public health technical departments to the government.

Devashis Baruah is the Standing Counsel to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and specializes in taxation laws, arbitration matters, intellectual property matters, constitutional laws, corporate laws, land disputes, and civil matters.

Kumud Konwar served as the Public Prosecutor at the Gauhati High Court.

Meanwhile, Biswajeet Goswami and Dilip Mazumder who have been serving as Assistant Advocates General in the earlier Sarbananda Sonowal-led government will be continuing in office until further orders.
