The initiatives were announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a celebratory event in Kokrajhar marking five years of the Bodoland Territorial Peace Accord.

Reflecting on the successes of the Peace Accord, the chief minister unveiled a vision for a "Viksit Bodoland" (Developed Bodoland) and outlined several projects to boost infrastructure, healthcare, and education in the region.

Among the initiatives, Sarma announced that an Assam Assembly session will be held in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on February 17, a move aimed at decentralising governance and promoting inclusivity.

Additional developmental plans include the establishment of two new medical colleges and two universities in the BTR. To improve connectivity, a bridge will also be constructed over the Pagladia River, and ₹400 crore has been allocated in 2025 for the construction of 4,000 kilometres of roads.

Furthermore, rail connectivity will be enhanced with a new link between Guwahati and Gelephu in Bhutan via Chirang district.

Sarma finally highlighted efforts to fully implement the Bodo Peace Accord by working out the provisions of the 125th Amendment to the Constitution.
