GUWAHATI: Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag has been selected for the East Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy season, scheduled to be played in Bengaluru from June 28 to July 16.
Moreover, Assam batsman Risav Das has been selected as a standby player.
The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) made this official on Thursday via a Facebook post.
"Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag has been selected to represent the East Zone team to participate in the Duleep Trophy from June 28 to July 16. East Zone Selection committee has also kept Assam batter Rishav Das on standby," the statement added.
Though touted as one of the finest young talents of Indian cricket, Riyan Parag had a disappointing season in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).
In his seven outings, Parag scored 7, 20, 7, 5, 15*, 4, and 20 runs, respectively.
Duleep Trophy will kickstart the senior men’s 2023-24 domestic cricket season in India.
