Assam: Additional NDRF Team Deployed To Barak Valley Amid Ongoing Flood Crisis

 

GUWAHATI: In response to the escalating flood situation in Barak Valley, an additional team from the 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to the region. The team was airlifted from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Borjhar, Guwahati to Silchar Airport in Cachar.

This new deployment supplements the existing NDRF team already stationed in Barak Valley, aiming to provide immediate and effective assistance to manage and mitigate the flood’s impact. The measures are intended to enhance the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas.

The 1st Battalion of NDRF has been assisting district and state administrations in flood-affected regions. Recent operations included a significant rescue mission in Kandhulimari and Baliram Pathar villages in Doboka and Hojai, where a total of 149 individuals, including 47 children and one pregnant woman, were safely evacuated.
