GUWAHATI: Neel Nakshatra Das, the JEE Mains topper who was arrested in connection with the JEE exam scam case, has been granted bail by the Gauhati High Court.

The arrest was made after an FIR was filed against the student who secured 99.8% in JEE Exams even though he did not appear for the exam held on September 5.
The case was registered with Azara Police Station (Case No. 624/2020 ) under sections 120B/419/420/406 of the IPC read with Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The court, while granting bail, observed that since the accused is just above 18 years of age, his further’s custody is not necessary in the interest of investigation.
The accused was represented by advocate BK Mahajan and the State was represented by Additional Public Prosecutor NJ Dutta.
