Assam Accord's Clause 6 Committee Submits Report to CM Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Assam Accord's Clause 6 committee submitted its report to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the Brahmaputra Guest House on February 25.

Futher the Assam government will send the report to the Home Ministry for further action.

Earlier Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference on 22 February said, "We have taken the matter up with Amit Shah during his Assam visit on 20 February. Considering the urgency of the situation he had asked CM to receive the report and present it to him."

After analysisng the report if required, the Committee members might be invited to Delhi as well.

The Clause 6 high-level committee which was set up by the central government to suggest measures for the implementation of the Assam Accord.

As per reports, the panel in its report has mentioned the definition of “Assamese people” and has also offered several recommendations for the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. The report will be submitted to the central government soon.  

The 150-page report has been finalised and has been signed by all members. The committee’s stipulated time was to expire on February 15, after receiving a month’s extension.
