GUWAHATI: 63 militants are set to surrender in Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati today.
The militants include 17 from the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I), 32 are members of the United People’s Revolutionary Front, a Kuki militant outfit and the rest are from the Dimasa National Liberation Army and People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri. This was informed to G Plus by Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), Hiren Nath.
As per sources, the surrender of the militants can be attributed to the government's rehabilitation push. Recently surrendered militants include Drishti Rajkhowa and Manoj Axom.
