GUWAHATI: The sole casualty of the untoward ferry accident that took place in the Jorhat-Majuli route of Brahmaputra on Wednesday, September 8, has been identified as Parimita Das from Kahilipara, Guwahati.
The 28-year-old was serving as an Assamese lecturer at the Rangachahi College of Majuli.

According to reports, she was heading back to Majuli after bidding farewell to her mother at Nimatighat when the tragic accident occurred.
Reportedly, she breathed her last at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) after she was rescued from the river.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and will be brought back to Guwahati for the last rites.
Rangachahi College today, September 9, has organised a condolence service for the departed soul.
