Assam: 15-Day-Old Infant Rescued From Human Trafficking Gang in Barpeta

GUWAHATI: A 15-day-old infant was rescued from a gang running a human trafficking racket by Barpeta police on Saturday, September 14. 

Based on a report by the Times of India, the child was kidnapped from her house in Bahmura village in Barpeta district by two persons identified as Hasanur Ali and Imran Ali, who sold the child for Rs. 10,000.

Police have caught Imran but Hasanur is still on the run. 

The infant was found with a couple, Wahidul Haque and his wife, who claimed that they had adopted the girl. They were arrested from Mukalmua area in Nalbari district. 

Police authorities have stated that both Imran and Wahidul have been taken for two days of remand and the child was handed over to her biological mother on Sunday, September 15, following a court order.
