GUWAHATI: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued fresh directives for the containment of COVID-19 positive cases in both rural and urban areas, which will remain in force with immediate effect from 5 AM of July 20, until further order.

According to the directives, Eid celebrations on July 21 will be limited to respective homes. Religious rituals like Namaaz at mosques will be allowed with not more than 5 persons, including the Religious head.

Excise authorities will continue to take strong actions against illegal production and sale of country liquor in all the districts, as a COVID-19 containment measure.

Goalpara and Morigaon districts, after facing total containment for over two weeks, have shown improvement in terms of caseload and positivity rate. As such, the curfew relaxation time in these districts will be from 5 AM to 1 PM. Shops dealing with groceries, fruits, vegetables, dairy, etc will remain open up to 5 PM. Government and private offices, commercial establishments, restaurants, etc will remain open up to 12 PM.

The number of active cases and positivity rate is still high in five districts namely Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, and Biswanath. However, emergency services in these districts will continue round the clock and essential services including shops dealing with groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy, etc will remain open up to 5 PM.

Other restrictions including the odd-even formula for plying of vehicles in urban areas, declaration of containment zones, restriction on inter-district movement, will continue to remain in force until further notice.
