The MoU was signed in Guwahati by ASDMA CEO Gyanendra Dev Tripathi and GSI Deputy Director General Siladitya Sengupta. This collaboration aims to address the landslide issues in the state.

According to the MoU,  ASDMA and GSI will implement an experimental regional early warning forecast system for landslides initially for Dima Hasao and Cachar districts, with plans to expand across the entire state in the future. The LEWS will use static landslide susceptibility and hazard maps; dynamic short and long-term rainfall forecasts to provide early warnings.

Assam frequently experiences severe floods during the monsoon season, with landslides causing damage and loss of life in Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Cachar, Karimganj, and Kamrup (Metro) districts.

Furthermore, GSI informed that it has launched the "Bhooskhalan" App to allow users to report landslides to make it more efficient in predicting and mitigating disasters as cloud sourcing. It was also informed that the GSI’s "Bhusanket" portal is now available online, providing updates on landslides across India.
