APDCL Dismisses Reports On Tariff Hike As Misleading

GUWAHATI: In response to recent reports circulating on various media platforms regarding a possible tariff hike, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has issued a clarification on December 26 to inform all consumers that there is no proposal for any tariff increase for the current financial year.

APDCL also states that the circulating information is misleading and aims to address concerns and provide transparency to consumers, asserting that it is a regular and routine practice to submit a tariff proposal to the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC) every year for review.

Contrary to the speculations, there is no intention or proposal for a tariff hike during the ongoing financial year, the APDCL informed. The current tariff structure, fixed in April 2023, continues to be applicable for all domestic consumers served by APDCL.

Taking to X, APDCL stated, "It is to bring to the notice of all our valued consumers that the news that has been circulating in various media platforms about the hike in tariff is misleading. There is no proposal of APDCL for any tariff hike for this financial year. It is a regular routine for APDCL to submit a tariff proposal to AERC every year. The tariff which was fixed in the month of April'2023 is still prevailing for all the domestic consumers of APDCL."
