GUWAHATI: Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has issued a statement after the death of the former Chief Minister (CM) of Assam, Tarun Gogoi wherein he expressed anguish at the demise of the former Congress leader.

"Tarun Gogoi Ji was a popular leader and a veteran administrator, who had years of political experience in Assam as well as the Centre. Anguished by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of sadness. Om Shanti," posted Narendra Modi on Twitter.
Earlier, former CM of Assam Tarun Gogoi, one of Assam's most celebrated and respected politicians, died at around 5:34 pm on 23rd November, confirmed health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Gogoi had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 26, after which he was admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
