Amid Soaring Heat, Schools To Start Early In Guwahati

 

GUWAHATI: Amid the soaring temperatures in Assam, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration decided to revise the school timing on Saturday.

"As per the instruction from the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup metro district, in the interest of public wellbeing, the normal school timing is hereby rescheduled due to the continuous rise of Mercury level and prevailing scorching heat for both Government Provincialised and private schools under Kamrup Metro district w.e.f Monday, June 5, 2023," stated a notice issued by the Inspector of Schools/DEEo (i/c) cum District Mission coordinator, Kamrup Metro.

According to the new timings, LP and ME schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:00 noon, and HS schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

"Schools are also instructed to conduct the morning assembly inside the classroom or shaded area," the notice added.

The order will remain in force until further notice.

On Saturday, at least three students fainted while attending the morning assembly prayer at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed High School in Sowaguri, Biswanath Chariali, Assam.

The media reported that one of the three students was first rushed to Biswanath Ghat Hospital and later to Biswanath Chariali sub-divisional civil hospital.

Meanwhile, the district administrations of Nagaon and Karbi Anglong have already revised the school timings of all educational institutions.
