GUWAHATI: The Dhemaji Engineering College finds itself embroiled in controversy as allegations of mental harassment against the college principal and administration come to light.

A college professor has filed a formal complaint citing persistent mental harassment inflicted by the college administration, which has reportedly taken a toll on the well-being and peace of mind of the faculty and staff.
In the complaint lodged by the professor, it was outlined that the mental harassment endured over the past few months has had a significant impact on their overall well-being. The nature of harassment allegedly includes both mental intimidation and threats of expulsion from the workplace, creating a hostile work environment for the faculty and staff.
In the complaint, the professor stated, "Over the few months I have experienced persistent mental harassment from the administration which has significantly impacted my well-being and peace of mind. The nature of harassment includes mental harassment as well as threatening to expel me from my workplace."
Talking to GPlus, a source within the Dhemaji Engineering College shed light on the situation, revealing that the principal's tenure has been marred by inaction and negligence towards the college's development over the past four years.
Additionally, the source highlighted a concerning trend wherein students who raise concerns or criticisms regarding the college or its leadership are targeted and subjected to punitive measures, including threats of academic repercussions.
A student from Dhemaji Engineering College also has raised concerns over the college's infrastructure, highlighting the need for development.
Speaking to GPlus, the student revealed that, "When we raised the issue with the principal, we faced intimidation instead of support."
The source further said, "The principal threatened the student, casting doubts on their ability to pass the 7th semester."
The student emphasised the importance of adequate facilities for a conducive learning environment.
Talking to GPlus, local police in Dhemaji said, "We are still investigating the matter."
GPlus talked to the District Commissioner of Dhemaji, Ankur Bharali who said, "We have formed a committee to investigate the matter. Investigation is underway."
