GUWAHATI: An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter scale hit Assam on Wednesday, April 28. People felt strong tremors in the capital city Guwahati too, with some damages reported across households and business establishments.
There were numerous damages reported at various hotels across Guwahati, one of them being Vivanta.
The management of the hotel released a statement on April 28 confirming 'superficial' damage.
"Guwahati felt serious tremors of a 6.7 magnitude earthquake with its epicentre in Tezpur. Whilst our hotel sustained minimal and superficial damage, all our guests and employees are safe. The safety of our guests and employees remains of paramount importance to us. We continue to monitor the situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Assam in these challenging and unfortunate times," stated the release.
