GUWAHATI: After winning the first gold medal for India in an international track event, golden girl Hima Das has set her sights on the ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta, Indonesia. Hima Das will be making her Asian Games debut this year.
The 18-year-old sprinter has been just two years in the professional athletics world and has already brought laurels to her country. She specializes in the 200 metres and 400 metres sprints.
Hima had clocked 51.46 seconds in the World U20 Championships in Finland and expects to better it. She will be pitted against Bahrain’s Salwa Eid who has five of the 10 fastest times this year in the women’s 400m. Hima’s personal best is 51.13 seconds. In the 200 metres, Hima’s competitor would be a fellow sportsperson, Dutee Chand.
