Akhil Gogoi in Judicial Custody for 14 Days

GUWAHATI: Peasants' leader Akhil Gogoi was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a special court here in Guwahati on December 26.

Although NIA wanted Gogoi's custody for further interrogation but the court rejected the plea.

Earlier, on December 25, Under tight security, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi was brought back to Guwahati in the late evening via Air India flight.

Meanwhile, the NIA also launched a search operation at Gogoi's residence in Guwahati on December 26 at around 7:00 AM and at his office located at the Gandhi Basti area.

The NIA alleged that Gogoi merged KMSS with Revolutionary Communist Centre (RCC) in 2009 and has involvement with the Maoists.
