Akhil Gogoi sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody Again

GUWAHATI: RTI activist and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi, who was arrested under the UAPA Act has been sent to 14-day judicial custody again on January 24.

According to reports, Akhil Gogoi was produced before the NIA special court today in Chandmari where he was sent to judicial custody.

While speaking outside the court, Gogoi said, “It is now time to stage a massive protest against the CAA but the movement in Assam is not that strong as it supposed to be.”

Further he said that if people won't come out to protest, then the Assamese community will be destroyed.

It is to be mentioned that the KMSS leader was arrested in Jorhat amid protests over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on December 12, 2019.
