GUWAHATI: Akhil Gogoi has blamed the state home department for the deaths of Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath. The total breakdown of the department is responsible for the deaths of two innocent youth said Gogoi.

Demanding a CBI inquiry Akhil Gogoi also urged the chief minister to appoint a fast track court of inquiry to provide swift justice to the families of Nilotpal and Abhijit.

Addressing reporters at the central office of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Akhil Gogoi said that chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who heads the home department should apologise to the people of Assam for the incident. He also spoke against the failure of the Special Branch headed by ADG, Pallab Bhattacharya.

Gogoi demanded strict action against Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police, V Sivaprasad Ganjala for failing to stop the spreading of fake child-lifters news in his area.

Instead, the department included the SP in the SIT thereby saving his skin, said Gogoi. The deaths were due to the negligence of the Assam Police as it was their duty to stop such rumours, Gogoi added.

Gogoi also demanded severe action against the officer in charge of the Dokmoka police station whose interference could have saved the lives of the two boys.

He lamented the complete failure of the police network system and the ineffectiveness of the Village Defence Party module.

The KMSS leader accused the RSS and the BJP of spreading the false rumours of child lifters to create panic and tension before the 30th June NRC publication.
