GUWAHATI: Bringing pride to the state of Assam, Gayatri Sharma, an actor hailing from Guwahati, featured in the highly anticipated film 'Agra' which mesmerised the audience at the Cannes Film Festival.
Directed by Kanu Behl, 'Agra' takes viewers on an introspective journey of an individual's sexual odyssey, delving deep into the realms of desire and male sexual repression.
The grand premiere of 'Agra' took place at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on the night of May 24. The film will be soon available on various OTT platforms.
The audience rose to their feet, offering a thunderous five-minute standing ovation as a token of their appreciation for the brilliance displayed in the film.
‘Agra’ was one of the three Indian films which were selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2023. The film also secured a place in the coveted Directors' Fortnight Section.
The film starred Rahul Roy who was accompanied by Gayatri Sharma, Priyanka Bose and Ruhani Sharma.
Speaking to G Plus on the success received by the film, Gayatri said, “I am extremely grateful to have worked in the film alongside the talented cast. The audition process was pretty stringent and I am extremely glad I landed the role. It is a bold movie, no doubt about that but I hope the audience loves and appreciates it as much as it was loved at the festival.”
Along with ‘Agra’, Gayatri has also played a role in several OTT series including 'Delhi Crime,' 'Leila,' and 'Decoupled.'
Apart from acting, Gayatri has an extensive experience in the field of journalism and mass media. She has worked with NDTV for 13 years from 1998 to 2011 and was also the lead faculty in NDTV Broadcast Journalism.
Gayatri Sharma has also held the position of Deputy Editor at G Plus.
