GUWAHATI: A student from Assam Engineering College (AEC) in Guwahati lost his life under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Barnil Kalita, a 4th-semester B.Tech student, who's body was discovered near the Tetelia Rail Gate.
The locals immediately called for an ambulance, and the body was taken to Apollo Excel Care Hospital. The Jalukbari police were informed of the incident at around 8:30 p.m at night.
Talking to GPlus, an official from Jalukbari police outpost said, "Preliminary investigations suggest that the student may have been struck by a train. According to witnesses, the boy was last seen with a girl near the railway line around 5 PM."
The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway.
