Adani Group Takes Over LGBI Airport Guwahati Officially

GUWAHATI: The Adani Group, on Tuesday, signed concession agreements with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the management, operations and development of Guwahati, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram airports. The concession period is 50 years from the commercial operation date.


In August last year, Adani Group emerged as the successful bidder in a global competitive bidding conducted by the AAI, winning the rights to operate and develop these airports in a public-private partnership mode for 50 years.

"Adani Jaipur International Airport Limited, Adani Guwahati International Airport Limited and Adani Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Limited, wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Company have signed the Concession Agreement on 19th January, 2021 with Airports Authority of India for the operations, management and development of Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram Airports, respectively," Adani Enterprises said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.


This leasing out of airports is part of the original six that was awarded to the Adani airports. Ahmedabad, Mangaluru and Lucknow airports were awarded earlier to the conglomerate.


"The concessionaires are required to take up the Guwahati, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram airports fulfilling certain conditions precedents within 180 days from January 19, 2021," the Airports Authority of India said.


NV Subbarayudu, Executive Director, Strategic Initiative Unit, AAI & Behnad Zandi, CEO Adani Airport along with AAI Chairman, Arvind Singh, AAI Board Members & senior officials and Adani Enterprises Ltd., were also present at the agreement.
