GUWAHATI: Popular actor Mithun Chakraborty has been announced as the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2022.

This was announced by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw on September 30 in recognition of his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema.
Chakraborty, who is known for his versatile performances and charismatic screen presence, has acted in more than 350 films across various Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri, and Telugu, in his career of over 50 years. He is known for his diverse performances, ranging from action to drama and comedy, and has won several awards, including three National Film Awards for Best Actor.
Besides his cinematic legacy, he is also known for his commitment to social causes through his numerous charitable initiatives to support education, healthcare, and underprivileged communities. He has also served as a Member of Parliament twice.
The actor will receive the award at the 70th National Film awards ceremony scheduled to be held on October 8.
