GUWAHATI: Actors Malaika Arora and Amrita Rao's father, Anil Arora, reportedly died by suicide on the morning of Wednesday, September 11, after jumping from the terrace of his sixth-floor apartment in Bandra, Mumbai.
According to sources, the police are investigating the incident, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The motive behind the alleged suicide is currently unclear, and no suicide note has been recovered.
At the scene, Malaika Arora’s ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, along with other celebrities, was present. Arjun Kapoor and Salim Khan also visited Malaika Arora’s house, offering support after the news about her father.
Anil Arora was employed with the Indian Merchant Navy. He was married to Joyce Polycarp, and they had two daughters, Malaika and Amrita. The couple divorced when their daughters were 11 and 6 years old, respectively.
While addressing the media, a Mumbai police officer said in Hindi, "Anil Arora used to live on the sixth floor. We are carrying out a detailed investigation from all angles... our forensic teams are here for investigation. His body is being sent for postmortem. We are investigating everything... prima facie it looks like suicide, we are conducting further investigation."
Malaika was reportedly not at home when news of her father's death broke. She was reportedly in Pune, and rushed back to Mumbai.
