GUWAHATI: Amidst the excitement of Bhogali Bihu, a horrific road accident took place early morning today, January 14 at Hatikhuli in Kaziranga, Assam.
A coal-loaded truck hit five people who were walking by the side of the road.
As per reports, three people died on spot and two were severely injured. The deceased have been identified as Sikander Karmakar, Jagannath Karmakar and Agnesh Karmakar.
All three residents of Hatikhali belong to the same family.
Meanwhile, the injured Magnath Karmakar and Bajrangi Karmakar have been admitted to the Kohora Beja Vaishnava Hospital in a critical condition.
Talking to media, the Police who was at the scene said, “The truck was coming at high speed on the NH 37 at Hathikuli, Kaziranga at around 5-5:30 AM. The vehicle hit the people, killing three and injuring two.”
The truck fell into the ditch after the accident. The driver and the handyman of the truck has fled the scene.
